Liverpool University Hospitals see and treat approximately 16,000 people diagnosed with cancer each year. Due to our improving cancer treatments, more and more people are living with cancer.
Across Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital we provide state of the art, screening programmes and evidence based and tested cancer treatments for all cancer types. We are the regional specialist centre for the diagnosis and management of the following cancers:
- Head and Neck
- Ocular Oncology
- Sarcoma
- Pancreas/ Hepatobiliary (Liver)
- Neuroendocrine
- Oesophagogastric
- Urology - Renal/Bladder/Testicular/Penile.
Within our city we have significantly higher rates of oesophageal, stomach, liver and bladder cancers than are reported nationally and the most common cancer we diagnose are breast, colorectal (bowel), lung and prostate.
As well as treating cancer patients, we work closely with the University of Liverpool, partnering trusts, primary care, and third sector organisations to support those people to live well with cancer.
