By foot

The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is less than a mile on foot from Lime Street Station, Central Station and Queens Square bus station, and is accessible via Prescot Street and West Derby Street. By bike

The hospital is less than one mile from the city centre. You can get to the hospital via Prescot Street or West Derby Street.

Bike storage

There are bicycle parking facilities at the two main entrances into the hospital building on Mount Vernon Street and West Derby Street. There is also bicycle parking outside the Linda McCartney Centre. The site is regularly patrolled by Security colleagues and has CCTV coverage.

The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is about three miles from the M62, please follow signs for The Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the city centre.

If you are travelling via the Mersey tunnels, Queensway, turn left at the roundabout at the tunnel exit and immediately bear right into the filter lane to turn right at the traffic lights and follow signs.

For the Kingsway tunnel, follow the exit slip road onto the main carriageway keeping in the left-hand lane. At the traffic lights bear left and follow signs.

Drop off facilities are available on the Mount Vernon Street and West Derby street entrances.

Car parking

Drivers are directed to the Q-Park multi-storey car park on Prescot Street, L6 1LY.

For those with walking difficulties, there is a shuttle bus service operating between Q-Park, the Liverpool University Dental Hospital and The Royal Liverpool University Hospital. The bus operates 8.30am-4.30pm. If you find you are waiting a while for the bus, the driver’s number is displayed on the Q-Park exit.

Concessionary parking

Blue Badge holders

Parking for Blue Badge holders is free at the Mount Vernon Street entrance. However, parking is limited, and you are advised to allow sufficient time for parking as you may need to redirect to the nearby Q-Park.

We encourage our colleagues, patients and visitors to use public transport where possible - this helps ease congestion and saves car parking spaces for those who must use a car.

The hospital is a mile from Liverpool Lime Street Station which serves the main city line and Liverpool Central Station, which provides routes on the Northern and Wirral lines.

There are freephone direct lines to local taxi companies and these can be booked using the freephone’s which are situated in the main entrances.

Taxis are also readily available from Liverpool Lime Street station.
