The Endocrinology team at Aintree University Hospital consists of 18 consultants supported by endocrine specialist nurses.
We offer a wide range of specialist clinics including:
- Pituitary clinic (Joint pituitary clinic based in Walton centre)
- Neuro Endocrine Tumour Clinic and MDT
- MEN Clinic
- Thyroid Clinic
- Young Adult and Transitional Endocrinology clinic
- Adrenal clinic and MDT
- Antenatal Endocrinology Clinic
- General Endocrinology clinics.
We are a tertiary referral centre for endocrine services and receive referrals from all areas of Merseyside, North Wales, Cumbria and Lancashire.
Our services cover all aspects of endocrinology including pituitary, adrenal, thyroid gland and parathyroid gland disorders, young adult and transitional endocrine services as well as managing hypogonadism and endocrine aspects of menstural and fertility disorders.
We are an ENETS centre of excellence and have the region’s largest neuroendocrine tumour service and multiple endocrine neoplasia service.
We are also the region’s specialist weight management service providing input via the following services:
- The Aintree Specialist Weight Management Clinic (Aintree SWMS). A level four service for patients outside of Liverpool or patients with complex medical conditions.
- Aintree Liverpool Obesity Support Service (Aintree LOSS). A level three service for patients based within Liverpool.
- Aintree Non Mersey Weight Management Clinics. A level three service for patients from Cumbria and Lancashire.
- The Ashton, Leigh and Wigan Specialist Weight Management Clinics (Ashton, Leigh and Wigan SWMS). A level four service for patients based in Ashton, Leigh and Wigan.

Patients can be referred by GPs or community teams to our specialist clinics.
Patients will be offered face-to-face or telephone consultations.

Our Endocrine Specialist Nursing team support the consultant team in the management of a variety of endocrine conditions including thyroid disorders, parathyroid disorders, hypogonadism and testosterone replacement, growth hormone replacement and adrenal disorders including hydrocortisone education. They help you coordinate your care, provide specialist advice when required and link with consultant team to offer the best possible care.
The team consists of:

- Julie Graham – Endocrine Specialist Nurse.
