Our Respiratory Department provides a service for diagnosis and treatment of patients with a wide range of respiratory illnesses and conditions.

We offer a range of tests to help understand the problem and enable us to make a diagnosis. We are then able to provide a suitable pathway to better manage your symptoms and put you on the path to recovery.

We are a specialist centre for the care and treatment of patients with asthma/severe asthma and our aim is to provide preventative care in the form of advice and guidance to keep you fit, healthy and reduce the risk of you becoming unwell.

We have a wide range of specialist nurses to support our clinicians, who specialise is different aspects of respiratory disease and are also available to support you on your care pathway.

We have three Respiratory wards at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Ward 6C, Ward 6D and our specialist Respiratory Support Unit, (RSU - Ward 1A).

Prior to attending an outpatient appointment our consultant team may request you attend for some diagnostic tests. Your appointment will be scheduled based upon how urgent your referral is.
