Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a commitment and an investment to ongoing lifelong learning. It encourages colleagues to think about future progression and asks individuals to identify opportunities to learn something new, refresh existing knowledge, improve skills, keep up-to-date with the latest developments in a certain field or to meet revalidation requirements by professional regulatory bodies.

To understand and capture the needs of our staff, the Training, Education & Learning Needs Analysis (TELNA) is conducted annually with managers and team leaders who will have a good understanding of staff needs. CPD for registered nurses, nursing associates and allied health professionals is supported by devolved funds from NHS England – Workforce Training and Education Hub. CPD for Health Care Assistants and Assistant Practitioners are funded by the Trust.

Our Trust supports both internal and external CPD opportunities like attendance at conferences, seminars, academic writing preparation modules, short courses, credit and non-credit bearing university modules, MSc, BSc and PGCert pathways via internal scholarships.

We consistently review and revise our prospectus, while working closely with our Higher Education Institution (HEI) partners to develop modules that are fit for purpose, both for staff and the service.

We also have our Learning and Development, Organisational Development and Clinical Education departments who provide a wide range of clinical, non-clinical and leadership training opportunities.
