As a result of the hard work by colleagues across Liverpool University Hospitals, the Trust is proud to have considerably improved the experience its patients receive whilst in hospital, as highlighted in the Care Quality Commission (CQC) National Inpatient Survey for 2023.

The Trust is one of eight organisations that the CQC has singled out for significantly improving their scores, meaning that LUHFT has now moved into the top quartile of acute trusts for overall patient experience.

This year’s survey results see LUHFT ranked 21st of all 131 trusts nationally, a considerable improvement from 37th out of 133 trusts last year.

James Sumner, Chief Executive at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am incredibly proud of every colleague in the Trust, as this significant increase is testament to their dedication in improving the care and experience we are able to provide our patients.

“As a Trust, we are now scoring 10th out of 120 general acute trusts for overall experience, which is a fantastic achievement considering the challenges that the NHS continues to face. Progress continues to be made at LUHFT in how we can provide the best experience possible for our patients whilst they are under our care, but this is a notable step forward in our improvement journey as an organisation.”
