Geoffrey Appleton has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director on the joint board of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust (LWH) and has this week started a three-year term of office, running until 31 August 2027.

Geoffrey Appleton.jpgThe role of a Non-Executive Director is to provide leadership and to contribute to setting the strategic direction and culture of the Trust. Non-Executive Directors bring an independent lens, challenge and experience derived from other roles and sectors to the work of the Board. 

Geoffrey is currently Chair of the St Helens Cares Place Partnership Board and Deputy Chair of the St Helen’s People’s Board and will bring valuable experience in tackling health inequalities to improve health outcomes, aligning with the joint board’s ongoing plans to improve the lives of its patients and people of Liverpool.

Over the past ten years, Geoffrey’s previous appointments have also been in the borough of St Helen’s and include Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chair of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital and Chair of the St Helen’s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
