The newly established Liverpool Emergency Department Research Unit Strategy (LEDRUS) team have just finished an intensive two-week training programme before colleagues begin their new roles within the department.

The programme included talks from Professor Terry Jones, Director of Research and Innovation, Research Matrons, the NIHR and the CRF, with shadowing days in the Research delivery teams and online training.

Dr Terry Mcloughlin, Emergency Medicine Consultant and Co-Deputy Clinical Director of Research said: “This is a brilliant development for research not only in the Emergency Department, but for the entire organisation.

“We will be able to bring research to the frontline of healthcare, giving patients access to research studies and cutting-edge treatments like never before."

LEDRUS is collaboration across both the Royal and Aintree site, involving multiple specialties and different NHS organisations.
