The Respiratory Service, based at Aintree University Hospitals’ Chest Centre diagnoses and treats a wide range of chest and lung disorders. 

Our Chest Centre manages 70 permanent in-patient beds, as well as four beds for acute Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and four beds for weaning services on our Ventilation Inpatient Centre (VIC). 

Our patients are treated for chest problems in many respiratory conditions ranging from acute pneumonias, chronic chest complaints, tuberculosis to lung cancer. 
The Chest Centre also provides an emergency service for acute chest problems.

The service has a highly skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary team who provide a comprehensive, efficient, personal and above all comfortable service for all patients and their relatives.

Aintree Chest Centre has a national and international reputation for its clinical research. Our senior staff have been closely involved with the development of national and regional standards and audit for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) guidelines. 

Some patients may occasionally be asked to participate in research projects, if patients are appropriate the full details of the study will be explained and you will be guided through the process, participation in clinical trials is  voluntary.
